Adviser: Dr. Cecilia B.Banaag. This study was conducted to determine the influence of the teachers’ educational qualification on their attitudes, PBET/LET performance, job performance and on the students’ academic performance in selected high schools in Magallanes, Maragondon, Cavite for the school year 1999-2000. Specifically, it sought to determine the following: (1) attitude towards teaching of the two groups of teachers; (2) PBET/LET performance; (3) job performance; (4) students’ academic performance; and (5) the differences between the two groups of respondents in terms of their: (a) attitude; (b) PBET/LET performance; (c) job performance; (d) students’ academic performance; (e) teachers’ performance; and students’ academic performance. The study made use of the causal comparative research design. Teachers’ Attitude Scale, PBET/LET rating reports, Performance Appraisal System for Teachers and the students’ Form 137-As were among the instruments used in data gathering. The respondents of the study were the selected 996 secondary school students for the school year 1999-2000 and 103 permanent teachers. Statistical measures such as means, frequency counts, percentages and t-tests were used in the data analysis. Both Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) and non-BSE groups of teachers were found to have very favorable attitudes toward teaching, satisfactory performance in the PBET/LET examination and in their job performance, respectively. Both the students of the two groups of teachers likewise showed a very satisfactory academic performance. Moreover, results of the study revealed that the teachers’ attitudes were influenced by their educational qualification. Findings indicated that attitudes of teachers in both groups differed significantly. However, the teachers’ PBET/LET and job performances and the students’ academic performance did not show significant differences.
