Papa The study was conducted to determine the correlates of academic performance of the second year high school students of the Yon Severino Agricultural College. Questionnaire was constructed to gather data from 123 respondents, Frequency counts, percentages, and means Were used to describe the respondents and to summarize the data, The Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and the Stepwise Regression Analysis were used to ascertain tha relationships of the selected variables such as academic performance, as the dependent variable and level of socio-economic status, grade point average in grade six, and performance in entrance examination, as the independent variable the grade point average in grade six of the respondents was highly correlated with their academic performance. The grade point average in grade six of the second year high school students explained forty-four percent of the variations in their academic performance. The performance in the entrance examination of the second year high school students was significantly correlated with their academic performance. Regression analysis yielded strong association between academic performance and the grade point average in grade VI. The combined effects of the grade point average in grade VI and performance in entrance examination explained 57 percent of the total variations in their academic performance. The level of socio-economic status of the second year students was not related to their academic performance.
