JESUS IMMANUEL R. PEMPENGCO. Design of Control System for Automated Single-dwelling Residential Unit. An Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. November 2012,
Adviser: Engr. Efren R. Rocillo.
A design study was conducted to utilize a microcontroller suitable for lighting automation, door automation, window automation, and security automation by placing various ambiance sensors in different areas of the house as the inputs of the
microcontroller. The typical mechanical switches of the lighting outlets were replaced by a solid-state relay while doors and windows were installed with motors driven by a L298 chip as the output of the microcontroller. The program was designed to achieved auto— locking of doors, automatic opening and closing of doors and windows, and fully automated lighting in all sections of the house. The logical controls were developed and simplified by means of different Boolean algebra simplification methods and the sketch was written in Arduino—based programming.
The outputs of the study were presented in figures, schematic diagrams, tables, K- maps, flowcharts, and sketches that were evaluated in a constructed two dimensional model of the building.
