Abstract: JOAQUIN, JHUN DOMINGO R. and ROMEN ERNICK R. Design and Construction of a Water Pipe Pico-hydroelectric Power Generation System. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite April 2016. Adviser Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. The study was conducted from November 2015 to February 2016 at Brgy. Agusos Indang, Cavite and at Engineering Science Building, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to design and construct a water pipe pico-hydroelectric power generation system. Specifically, this study aimed to: I . determine the parameters needed by the turbine inside the water pipe by identifying the pressure or water head and water flow rate; 2. design and identify the suitable generator to be used; 3. assemble and combine the water pipe system and the generator system; 4. test and evaluate the water pipe picohydroelectric power system; and 5. conduct cost computation. The project was installed and evaluated at the front of Engineering Science (ES) building, CVSU, Indang, Cavite. The parameters such as pressure or water head, water flow rate, voltage, current, power output and rpm were measured. It was found out that the system used 2.437m head and the average flow rate is 2.36 L/s. The results of the evaluation showed the rpm, power output and efficiency of the system in different water flow rate. Results from the field study emphasize that the proposed system is feasible enough for electricity generation and indicate the prospect of further improvement and future research. Based on the results of the study, the proponents highly recommended other researchers to focus their interest on the development of renewable sources of energy which can sooner or later help the economy. The total cost of the study amounted to P20,930.00.
