Gender Equality: Obtaining and Securing Women's Equal Opportunities in Field of Law
Enforcement. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Development, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. June
2019. Adviser: Ms. Mary Grace A. llagan.
In law enforcement field, it is peculiar for female and male officers to perform together.
Women are still underutilized by the PNP recruitment process, but still the work in the police
force is gradually increasing.
A study on gender equality was carried out in selected Philippine National Police
precincts in the cities of Cavite, namely: Bacoor, Imus, Dasma, General Tries, and Tagaytay. A
multistage sampling technique was utilized to select the
participants.
The findings revealed that male police officers dominated in number, however, those in
the entry level were mostly females, which implies that there is an increasing inclination for a
male-dominated post among women. More so, using crosstabulation, it was found that equal
opportunities were provided for both sexes evidently observed from the tasks and job roles
performed. On the other hand, male police officers were found to perform most of the field jobs
including police patrolling. However, women were given tasks related to handling cases
concerning women and child welfare.
With the increasing roles of women in the field of law enforcement, it is but necessary to
widen the provision for this sector of the society as their contribution is seen to be of
significance considering how far they could function in this service industry.
