Abstract: AGUILAR, ARLYNN SIQUIOCO. Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1992. "SOIL LOSS EVALUATION UNDER STRIP CROPPING SYSTEM". Adviser: Engr. Cesar C. Carriaga The study, "Soil Loss Evaluation on the Strip Cropping System" was conducted at the Sloping Agricultural Land Technology-Extension Services Project in Don Severino Agricultural College, from September to December 1991. This study aimed to evaluate the soil loss under strip cropping system and the effectivity of strip cropping system in controlling soil erosion. Two areas with 38% slope were used in this study. One for the bare plot and the other one for the strip cropped plot. Each was replicated three times, with plot dimensions of 2 m x 16 m. Both areas have clay loam type of soil. Bare plot gave a higher surface runoff and sediment yield with a mean of 15.119 m3/ha and 317.511 kg/ha, respectively. On the other hand, strip cropped plot gave a mean volume of 11.276 m3/ha surface runoff and 99.92 kg/ha sediment Yield. This resulted because the rainfall impact was intercepted by the vegetative cover. Statistical analysis showed that there is no significant difference on the amount of surface runoff between bare and vegetative cover. On the other hand, a highly significant difference on the amount of sediment yield and vegetative cover was obtained. Strip cropping system was 65.53% effective in conserving soil over bare plot.
