A study was conducted to determine the gender division of labor among sari-sari store owners in selected areas of Cavite. The data used in the study were obtained through personal interviews with the 250 sari-sari store owners in selected areas of Cavite, namely: Dasmarinas City, General Trias City, Imus City, Indang, and Trece Martires City from November 2015 to February 2016. Frequency distributions, range, mean, percentage, rank, standard deviation and TTest were used in the analysis of data. The profitability of sari-sari store business of male and female participants was determined using return on investment. The participants had an average age of 42 years and had been in sari-sari store business for eight years. Majority of the male participants were married and the female participants were high school graduates. Most of the sari-sari store owners had their initial capital from personal savings and had their business usually located within or as an extension of their residence. Most of the mothers dominantly performed productive activities except in opening and closing the store and buying store supplies. As expected, most mothers had the major responsibilities in performing the reproductive activities while both mothers and fathers were involved in the community activities. Both male and female participants used an average of 12 hours in performing productive activities. Mothers had greater access and control on benefits like income and sari-sari store credit as compared to fathers, male and female children. The average annual net income or profit of male sari-sari store owners amounting to P703,062.12 was higher than the female sari-sari store owners which amounted to only There is no significant difference in net income of male and female participants.
