SARMIENTO, ALONA ROMILLA. "A TERRADO'S MULTIPLE CROP FARM ALFONSO, CAVI TE: A CASE STUDY" Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), major in Agricultural Economics, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. April 1993. Adviser: Dr. Luzviminda A. Rodrin.
A case study was conducted from November 1992 to February 1993 at Aterrado's Farm located in Barrio Balubad, Marahan, Alfonso, Cavite to provide the students the opportunity to apply her gained knowledge, skills. and tools in farm management to real life situations. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) provide information about the operation of a multiple crop farm particularly on management, production, marketing, and financial aspects; (2) identify the problems of the farm; and (3) analyze and recommend feasible solutions to the identified the data were collected through personal interview with the farmer and other members of the family by the use of the prepared questionnaires.
Farm visits and observations were also conducted to obtain additional information about the management, production, marketing, and financial aspects of the farm. The author also observed farm activities and operations related to these aspects. The study showed that low production of different crops and high price of production inputs encountered by the owner of the farm maybe attributed to improper use of fertilizer, prevalence of weeds in plantations, presence of insect pests and diseases, poor soil, and lack of technical know-how. To solve these problems, the management should improve the production operations by providing a well-organized cropping system together with the application of modern farm technology. The farmer should also continue attending seminars for additional knowledge about the farm operations.
