Abstract: ANCIANO, LEILA BENESEN, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1996. "Growth Performance of Chrysanthemum Using Different Mulching Materials Fertigated with Varying Amounts of Chicken Manure Tea". Adviser: Engr. David L. Cero. This study entitled "Growth Performance of Chrysanthemum Using Different Mulching Materials Fertigated with Varying Amounts of Chicken Manure Tea" was performed at the chrysanthemum plantation of the Crop Science Department, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from September 5 to December 16, 1995. Generally, this study was conducted to determine the growth response of chrysanthemum using different mulching materials fertigated with varying amounts of chicken manure tea. A 4 X 4 factorial experiment arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated four times was used in this study. An area of 30.42 square meters was used in the study. The land was plowed and harrowed several times to obtain well pulverized soil. There were four blocks measuring 1 X 5.5 meters. Each block had of treatments 0.03 meters apart. The different mulching materials were placed 5 days after transplanting at a rate of 0.17 kg except for the control plants. Results of this study revealed that the different mulching materials had significant effects on Chrysanthemum in terms of diameter of flowers, final root length, depth of water applied and daily available water removed. The varying amounts of chicken manure tea caused significant effects on Chrysanthemum in terms of average number of flowers, diameter of flowers, depth of water applied and the daily available water removed. Significant interaction effects on Chrysanthemum were observed between these two factors in terms of diameter of flowers, depth of water applied and the daily available water removed. Specifically, it was found out that the most suitable application of chicken manure tea was 300 ml (B3) as it gave the most satisfactory results in terms of average number of days from planting to flower bud formation, number of flowers, final root length and the diameter of flowers. Results also showed that chicken manure tea can be applied through the system of fertigation or as a component of irrigation.
