A field study was conducted from November 12, 2002 to February 13, 2003 to expose the trainee to the management operation of the firm and at the same time apply the knowledge learned in the classrooms. Specifically, it aimed to: acquire further knowledge and experience in the firm; familiarize and be exposed with the different activities of the firm; identify the problems encountered by the firm; \end identify the problems encountered by the department and recommend feasible solutions to the problems identified. The field study was conducted at Bank of the Philippine Islands, located at Paseo de Roxas corner dela Rosa St., Makati City. Gathering of data was done through observation and actual participation in the bank's activities and personal interviews with the manager and staff of the benefits department. Due to the confidentiality of some records, the financial aspect was not given emphasis. The focus of the field study was on the benefits department where the trainee was assigned. Work assignment at the benefits department involved clerical works such as pouching, filing the 'received copy of the pouch item, giving different- kinds ,of form to the clients (Multi-Purpose Loan, Salary Loan, Phil health), typing voucher, recording of voucher, encoding salary loan of applicants, encoding the social security number of the applicants and getting their company code and employee number, depositing checks to different banks, encoding check numbers, getting the validated deposit slips, inserting salary loan checks and voucher, getting the maturity date of the SSS, filing the MPL instruction sheet, inserting statement of account to the different country clubs, answering phone calls and sending fax messages to the clients.
