Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing Management. Cavitt State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Mr. Gener T. Cueno. The entrepreneurial project was conducted to provide students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and be able to gain relevant skills and experiences in an actual operation of candle production and retailing business. It aimed to: (1) determine the viability of a candle business; (2) identify the possible opportunities in running a candle business; and (3) determine the problems that may be encountered in managing a candle business and provide appropriate solutions. The enterprise was engaged in production and marketing of various types of candles. The activities such as the procurement of all the necessary materials, production of candles and selling the finished produ-cts were the tasks that the entrepreneurs performed during the business operation_ It started last November 13, 2013 until February 10, 2014 and was conducted in selected towns of Cavite such as Mendez, General Trias, Rosario, Trece, Kawit, Tanza, Naic and Dasmarinas. The project generated the highest sale on the initial month of operation amounting to P78,588.00. The net income earned by the business was P31,054.66. Financial ratios as well as financial statements were used to analyze and gauge the performance of the enterprise. The problems that the entrepreneurs encountered during the operation includes lack of knowledge in candle making, rejection when conducting personal selling and the low sales midway the operation of the project. To negate this, quantity discounts were low sales midway the operation of the project. To negate this, quantity discounts were given for the purchase of specified candle products. During the three-month business operation, the entrepreneurs have learned that a candle business is profitable and can be a means of extra income. The entrepreneurs learned that time, efforts and cooperation with the business partners were really needed in running a business especially in candle making. There were also lots of opportunities in a candle business as evident in its many uses in various occasions. Every business has its own challenges that may be encountered during the business operation and CANDLELIGHT had experienced some like having a long time in creating quality candles and rejection while conducting personal selling. Those challenges were resolved by doing appropriate actions such as hiring a candle maker to train them in the production of candles and asking for some referrals from friends and relatives before conducting personal selling that helped the business to have its smooth operation.
