Abstract: MOJICA, ANALYN. CRYSTAL. Profile of Business Establishments in District II of Cavite. B.S. Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Major in Marketing. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2004. Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino. The study was conducted in seven towns comprising 2nd District of Cavite to describe the socio-economic characteristics of entrepreneurs, profile of business establishments, and identify the problems encountered by these businesses. A total of 120 business establishments was studied. Data were gathered through personal interviews with the business personnel and with the use of questionnaires from December 2003 to February 2004. These businesses were operated into single proprietorship (43%), partnership (28%) and 29 percent for corporate type of business. The business establishments were operated for a mean age of 8 years. It was also found out that most of the businesses were located in area where it is accessible to customers. The capital of each business mostly came from bank loan. They started with an average capital of P3,695,1 18. At present they have an average capital of P18,031,076. There was an average of 14 regular employees who work in the business and 203 contractual employees. The products offered by the business were classified into tangible and intangible products. Fifty-eight percent of the respondents offered tangible products and forty-two percent offered intangible products. There was an average cost of P 3,666,338 incurred in business operation in the year 2002.. Their total average sales was P4, 171, 142. Customers' behavior (40%) is the most problem encountered by the business. It was followed by poor staff development and late submission of reports (15%). Limited supply of materials, poor sales, late payment (9% each), dissatisfaction of customers (10%), stiff competition and unpaid loan (5% each) were the other problems identified.
