A three-month field study was conducted at Philippine Airlines, Inc. in Philippine National Bank Financial Center, Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City to provide the author the opportunities in applying her knowledge and skills learned from the classrooms into actual business operations. Specifically, it aimed to determine the history and profile of the firm; determine the organization and management practices of the firm; identify the marketing programs used by the company, and determine the problems encountered and recommend feasible solutions. Information with regard to history, profile, management policies and organizational structure were gathered from the company intranet site, Infoserve. Other information and data, such as problems encountered by the firm were obtained through interviews, observations and personal experiences of the trainee. Philippine Airlines, Inc. Asia's first airline, is the flag carrier of the Republic of the Philippines and the pioneer domestic airline of the country, with a 69-year history that is steeped in tradition and modernity. The field study focused on the marketing activities and management policies of the firm. Included in the daily activities of the author during her stay in the firm were answering phone calls, receiving, encoding/typing survey and cabin inspection results, printing and photocopying documents such as travel orders, receipts, etc., pack and repack survey forms for the survey of PAL services and other related activities.
