A four—month operation of Royal Ice Cream was conducted at Banaba Cerca, Indang, Cavite from October 24, 2000 to February 9, 2001. The project started with an initial capital of P 20, 000.00 from individual contributions of P5,000.00 per person. Through the entrepreneurial project, the students were able to apply knowledge in managing a small scale business and develop problem solving skills. In addition, the students were also able to apply the theories and skills learned in the classroom like pricing, promotion, marketing strategies, handling products and management as a whole. The four students worked as partners on Royal Ice Cream. The proponents agreed to perform equal duties and responsibilities in conducting the project. Ice cream in cups and cones were sold at Cavite State University. The price of ice cream in cones and in cups was fixed at P5.00. Ice cream on sealed cups were sold at P6.50 per cup. These were stored in a freezer but were spoiled due to brownouts.
After the conduct of the project, a net income of P16,990.50 and a return on investment of 85 percent for four months operation were realized. The return above cash costs amounted to P16,990.50 while the return above non — cash costs totaled to P61,375.00. Strong determination and patience are considered as the most important attributes of an entrepreneur to succeed in this kind of business.
