The study sought to determine the level of perceived discrimination of elderly gays and
butch; the level of psychological well-being of elderly gays and butch; the significant difference

between elderly gays and butch in terms of perceived discrimination and psychological well-
being. The study made used of descriptivecomparative method. Instruments used in data

gathering were the lifted 9-item Everyday Discrimination Scale that were answerable by a 6-

point Likert scale to measure the perceived discrimination and the 42- item Psychological Well-
being scale that were answerable by a 6-point Likert scale.

Using the purposive sampling technique, participants were determined, they consisted of
35 elderly gays and 25 elderly butch for a total of 70 participants. The statistical measures
employed were mean and standard deviation in determining the level of Perceived
discrimination and level of psychological well-being of elderly gays and butch in selected cities
in Cavite, T-test was used to determine if there is a significant difference between elderly gays
and butch.
Based on the results, there was no significant difference between the level of perceived
discrimination between elderly gays and butch. The results also revealed that there was no
significant difference in the level of psychological well-being in terms of autonomy, personal
relations, purpose in life and self-acceptance between elderly gays and butch. Lastly, it was also
revealed that there was no significant difference in terms of environmental mastery and personal
growth between elderly gays and butch.
