The study entitled: Perceived Parenting Styles and Emotional Development of Second Born Child of Guyam Malaki, Indang, Cavite aimed to: 1) determine the relationship between the demographic profile and level of emotional development of the respondents and 2) to find out the difference between the levels of emotional development of the respondents according to their perceived parenting style. The method that was utilized in the study was descriptive-correlational method.
The respondents were chosen by using purposive or deliberate sampling technique essentially from Guyam Malaki, Indang, Cavite with a total of 98 second born child. To determine and for making this study valid, the researcher used Personal Data Sheet (PDS) to identify the demographic profile of the respondents, Perceived Parenting Styles Test to distinguish the parenting styles being perceived by the respondents, and Emotional Development Assessment Test to find out the level of emotional development of the respondents.
Based on the study conducted, the researcher came up with the findings that there is a significant relationship between the demographic profile and the level of emotional development of the respondents. Furthermore, there is a significant difference between the level of emotional development of the respondents according to their perceived parenting style. As a proposition, the researcher recommends that second born child should assess their own emotions for them to be a better individual. Parents should be careful and be aware in giving discipline to their children for a very reason that this could affect the emotional state of their child. Thus, parents are encouraged to practice a democratic style of parenting. Moreover, it is also recommended for future researchers to pursue the same research for its development and progress.
