CUENO, SHIELA G. Applied Research IV (Agricultural Science Curriculum), Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, February i991. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OCCUPATIONAL ASPIRATION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE SECOND YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS OF DSAC, SCHOOL YEAR 1990-1991. Adviser: Professor Cristeta M. Montano.

This research study attempted to determine the relationship of occupational aspirations to academic performance of the second year college students of DSAC, school year 1990-1991. This study used 121 second year college students of DSAC.

It was found out that most of the respondents would like to be teachers either in private/public elementary or secondary schools. The first and second occupational aspiration choices of the female were higher than those of the males. Both the males and the females had low third occupational aspiration choices.

It was also found out that respondents whose fathers had higher educational attainment had also high occupational aspirations. In addition, the first, second and third occupational aspiration choices were not related to the mother's educational attainment.

The findings also revealed that the respondents had low academic performance. Sex had nothing to do with academic performance of the respondents. Parent's educational attainment had nothing to do with the academic performance of the respondents.

The occupational aspirations of the respondents’ had nothing to do with their academic performance. This means that the medium occupational aspirations of the second year college students wease not related to their low academic performance.

Based on the findings of this study, the following are strongly recommended: 1) the guidance counselors and _ the teachers to encourage the students to have high academic performance; and 2) further studies on the relationship of occupational aspirations to other indicators of success oth
