Abstract: AVILA, ALDRINE B. and IYAYA, JERRONNE V. Development of Three Phase Pico-hydroelectric Power Generator. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. The study was conducted from December 2014 to February 2015 at Cavite State University (CVSU), Indang, Cavite to develop a pico-hydroelectric power generator using a conventional motor. Specifically, the study aimed to 1. determine the head, total flow rate and theoretical hydropower available in the site; 2. design and construct pipeline system; 3. convert conventional motor into a 3-phase pico-hydroelectric power generator;4. design a driving unit for the system; 5. design, construct and assemble the Pico hydroelectric power generator system; 6. test and evaluate the system in terms of power and efficiency; and 7. conduct cost computation. The study covered the provision and construction of the pico-hydroelectric system to be evaluated, which includes generator, turbine and pipeline system. The system was evaluated in terms of time and water level on the forebay, the behavior of the system was also observed in the study. The results of the evaluation showed the difference in power output from time to time and different water level. The developed pico-hydroelectric power generator showed high potential in supplying electrical power as it produced an average power of 45W. For further development of the study, larger forebay and better location are recommended. Also, using a 12 V system to charge a battery will increase the system's efficiency. The total cost of the study was P24, 430.
