"GENDER ROLE IDENTIFICATION AS INDEX OF SELF-CONCEPT AMONG SELECTED FRESHMEN STUDENT OF CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY S.Y. 2005-2006". Adviser: Shirley P. Suarez The study was conducted on November 2005 to January 2005 at different colleges in Cavite State University S.Y 2005-2006. The general, objective of this study is to determine the relationship of Gender role to the self-concept among selected freshmen college student of Cavite State University: (I) determined the demographical profile of the students in terms of: age, gender, college department. (2) determined the gender role of the students' respondents in terms of: masculinity, femininity, androgynous, undifferentiated. (3) determined the self-concept of the students' respondents in terms of not me, emotionality, goal directedness, accepting attitudes, family relation, peer relation, identity, self-feeling, personal worth, self-confidence. (4) determined the relationship of gender role to the self-concept of respondents. This study employed chi-square test that can be used for variable or two variables for there are two or more categories. Analyzing the category requires the multivariate X test of independence, which was used beyond the study. A validated test: Pasao Self-Concept Test was used in this study to measure the self-concept of the respondents. This is modified version of Myrna Pasao. High score are interpreted positive self-concept and problematic are score in the low self-concept and Bern Gender Role Inventory which was used to evaluate the role of an individual as being feminine, masculine and androgynous. This is modified version of Sandra Beni. Based on the data gathered, it can be said that there is no significant relationship between gender role and self-concept among the selected freshman students in Cavite State University
