Abstract: CUENO, HAROLD M. The Effects of Individual and Group Studying on the Mathematics Performance Among Grade Four Pupils in Indang Central Elementary School Indang, Cavite SY 2005-2006. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology. Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser Mrs. Imelda R. Filart. This study dealt with the effects of individual studying and group studying on the mathematics performance of grade four pupils from Indang Central Elementary School. Individual studying and group studying were conducted with operations of fractions for about three weeks by the experimenter. The procedure used for data analysis was the t-test for independent samples and t- test for correlated sample. This was used to determine significant differences between the performance of individual studying and the treatment group studying. The mean pretest result of the individual studying was 24.00 and group studying had 22.32 while the post-test results in individual studying was 26.00 and group studying had 25.27. The pretest mathematics performance in individual studying had a percentage of 77.4 and group studying had 72. There were no significant differences on the pretest mathematics performance between group and individual studying. The posttest mathematics performance in individual studying was 83.9 percent and group studying was 81.5 percent. There were no significant differences on the posttest mathematics performance between group and individual studying. However, individual and group studying had no effect on mathematics performance of the pupils. There is a significant increase on posttests in both individual and group studying.
