Rural Health Unit's Response on COVID-19 Cases in the Province of Cavite.
Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Cavite State
University, Indang, Cavite. June 2021. Adviser: Karen Louella R. Rint, RN, MAN.
This study was conducted at the Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from
September 2020 to June 2021. It aimed to compare the measures performed by Rural Health
Units (RHUs) in selected areas of Cavite in response to COVID-19 and assess if it contributed
to the number of cases in the area. Specifically, it intended to determine the demographic
profile of the selected RHUs, determine the interventions implemented by the RHUs in
response to COVID-19 cases, measure the relationship between the strategies of RHUs and
the monthly number of COVID-19 cases in their respective cities/municipalities and identify if
there are differences between the various RHUs in Cavite in terms of strategies to control
COVID-19 cases they handle.
The study utilized a quantitative descriptive correlational research design to strongly
support all the gathered data and objectives of the study. The participating RH Us from the five
cities/municipalities were determined through a purposive sampling technique. With the
approval of the duly organized research ERB to ensure the compliance of the study in the
national and international laws, a modified questionnaire adopted from the official guideline and
protocols by the DOH and IATF-IED was then distributed for the actual data gathering.
Based on the findings, the researchers were able to determine that the average number
of employees in certain professions are found in the lower range of the standard number of
employees as per DOH. Although all participating RHUs showed complete adherence to the
COVID-19 interventions, other interventions were still significantly poorly performed by the
RHUs.
