This study was conducted to evaluate the marketing strategies of tailoring shops specializing in
sportswear in selected towns of Batangas. Specifically, it aimed to describe the socio-economic
characteristics of tailoring shop owners specializing in sportswear in selected towns of Batangas,
determine the marketing strategies of tailoring shops specializing in sportswear, determine the net profit
of tailoring shops specializing in sportswear and identify the problems encountered by the tailoring shop
owners in handling their business.
The study was conducted in 14 towns of Batangas, namely: Balete, Batangas City; Ibaan, Laurel,
Lipa City, Malvar, Mataas na Kahoy, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Luis, Sto.Tomas, Tanauan City
and Taysan.
Descriptive methods such as frequency counts, percentage, mean, range and ranking were used to
present and analyze the data gathered.
The average age of the respondents was 44 years old. Majority of them were female, married and
high school graduates.
The sportswear products of tailoring shops specializing in sportswear include all the sports
uniform and accesories.
Respondents used different pricing and promotional strategies to increase profit.
The average monthly net profit of tailoring sportswear was PhP12,942.13. Clothing materials were
the highest expense items of the tailoring shops followed by the space rental then salaries of employees.
Repair and maintenance was the lowest expense followed by taxes and then utilities.
The major problems encountered by the tailoring shops were low income during off seasons, stiff
competition, bad climate, delayed payments of customers, low quality of materials, unattractive designs
and lack of capital
