Abstract: CASANOVA, CHERRY P., COLLADO, JHON KELVIN D., DIMAILIG MARIAN M. Disaster Risk Management Practices of Small Business Owners in Selected Areas of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2022. Adviser: Ms. Betsy Rose S. Fidel. The study was conducted in selected areas of Cavite namely: Tagaytay City, Alfonso, and Silang which is significantly more at risk to climate and weather-related hazards than more southern areas in the country and as well as geophysical hazards like earthquakes volcanic eruptions. Specifically, the study aimed: (a) to determine the demographic profile of the small business owners in selected areas of Cavite; (b) describe the four phases of disaster risks management; (c) describe the disaster management guidelines set by the different government implementing agencies; (d) asses the level of disaster risks management of small business owners during the mitigation phase, preparedness phase, response phase and recovery phase. The participants of the study were 100 small business owners in selected areas of Cavite. The level of risk management practices was described using Likert Scale, mean, range and percentage. The result shows that the majority of the participants were female and age that are noticeably young for a business owner that ranges from 18 to 25 years old. Most of the participants has a business of grocery store and operate 1 to 5 years with employed worker's range from 10 to 19. Moreover, the result shows that small business owners in selected areas of Cavite were extremely practiced in mitigation phase, the participants are knowledgeable of the possible risk and disaster, action plans are developed and always put into practice. The employees are also properly informed and trained which indicates that they extremely practiced the activities under the first disaster management phase. While the activities in preparedness, response, and recovery phase were frequently practiced by the respondents but are equipped with possible emergency actions that are ready to be implemented in times of hazard. Practice was also complied and followed most of the time.
