Abstract: A farm practice project on fattening hogs using taro as feed supplement was conducted at the DSAC Piggery Project from March 22 to July 22, 1988. Three piglets were purchased and used in this project. The average initial weights of piglets were measured at 48 kilograms. On the starting and growing period, the piglets were provided with starter mash and growing mash, respectively until finally they reached the finishing period. During this stage, they were fed with hog finisher mash. Simultaneously, the feeds were supplemented with white taro. Vet method of feeding was implemented on a twice a day basis. The piglets were fed for four (4) months. They reached a total weight of 284 kilograms and have an average weight of 94.6 kilograms. Upon finishing the project, the total amount of feed consumed was recorded at 750 kgs and an average feed efficiency of 1.62 was computed. Marketing of the hogs was easy. They were marketed on a dressed weight basis with a total of 190 kilograms. A gross income of 07,664.00 was attained and a net income of 0709.00 was realized.
