The study was conducted in Asian Terminals Incorporated, Mariveles Grain Terminal Division located at Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Company (BASECO) Compound, Mariveles Bataan from October 24, 2001, to January 31, 2002.
The general objective of the study was to enhance the student's knowledge and skills through actual participation and involvement in the company's operation, which will be useful in seeking future employment. Specifically, the study aimed to gather relevant information about the firm, describe the services offered in the market and identify problems encountered by the firm and recommend possible solutions to the various problems identified.
Data were gathered through the company's profile, interview with the staff and observation of the different activities of the company.
The study covered the major aspects of a business activity such as management, marketing, production, and finance of Mariveles Grain Terminal Division.
Mariveles Grain Terminal is a bulk grain division of Asian Terminals, incorporated. It engages in gain handling, storage, and delivery to different importing companies. It has the goal to grow into a profitable and become a preferred importing terminal in the Philippines by offering a high level of service in both the discharge of grains from ships and out loading of grains from the terminal.
Mariveles Grain Terminal was confronted with sensitive developments like the successive hikes in the price of fuel, the erosion of the value of peso against US dollar and a degree of diminishing foreign investment.
Working in a fast growing company helped the student gain valuable experience.
The training also helped her gain self-confidence and professionalism
