Abstract: BEBERINO, RN CARE L. and ORENA, LEA MAE T., An Analytical Study of the Industrial Engineering Graduates from Cavite State University. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Engineer Willie C. Buclatin. The study was conducted primarily to identify the employability and marketability of the industrial engineering graduates from Cavite State University. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the following: (a) the profile of the industrial engineering graduates in terms of their civil status, sex, age, region of origin, province and location of residence; (b) the profile of the industrial engineering graduates in terms of educational attainment and reasons for taking the course; (c) the school related factors and graduate related factors of the industrial engineering graduates in terms of marketability; (d) the examination taken and advanced studies attended by the industrial engineering graduates in terms of marketability; (e) the employment data of the industrial engineering graduates; (f) the significant relationship between marketability and employability of the industrial engineering graduates; and (h) the suggestion and recommendations towards the improvement of the industrial engineering program at Cavite State University. The participants of this study covered the overall population of the industrial engineering graduates from Cavite State University which is comprised of 199 graduates, but the retrieval rate of the data from the participants was 90.95 percent (181 graduates). The modified standard questionnaire from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) was used in data gathering. Data were gathered from the graduates through the use of questionnaires that were either distributed personally or sent through emails. The use of statistical treatment such as mean, standard deviation, mode, percentile, frequency counts, averages and correlational analysis were used to analyze the data with corresponding descriptive interpretation. Significant factors that are related to employability of the respondents were identified. These factors are the school related factors (faculty, curriculum and student activities) and graduate related factors (knowledge, skills, and ability) that have low positive correlation to very weak relationship to employability of the graduates. Recommendations were made in order to improve the BSIE program of Cavite State University. The following were the recommendations of this study: First, for the incoming students or those people who are planning to take BSIE in the future should highly take importance of the foundation of learning because it has a great impact on the ability of graduates to be in demand for a corporate work. Second, the department should assist in intensifying the actual manufacturing experience and relevant researches of the industrial engineering student by having some good linkages to competent companies, Third, graduates should be encouraged to take trainings and advanced studies to improve their knowledge, skills and ability for this will give them a competitive edge in being employed. Fourth, Cavite State University, is highly encouraged to assist the program by providing quality laboratory equipment that will help students to gain a knowledgeable experience during their hands-on activities. Fifth, offer elective subjects that are based on new trends in terms of the current technology and system in consideration to new software in the company. This will ensure a significant effect on the employability, of the graduates and will guarantee the competitive edge on the industrial engineering graduates. Lastly, other future researchers from other departments are also encouraged to conduct the same study to trace the employability and marketability of their graduates to gather information about their conditions when it comes to career growth and advancement.
