April, 1997. Adviser: Dr. Luzviminda A. Rodrin. This study was conducted to: (1) describe the socio- economic characteristics of the consumers; (2) determine the reason for choosing eatery services; (3) compare the demand for ten eateries in Indang; (4) compare the demand for eateries in Bancod and Poblacion; (5) ascertain the relationship between the quantity demanded for eatery services and the selected variables such as income, age, status, population, and prices of different meals; and (6) identify the problems encountered by the consumers in purchasing in the eatery. Indang, Cavite was selected as the place of the study. Three barangays namely: Barangay I, Barangay III and Barangay Bancod were included in the study, from which 200 respondents were interviewed using an interview schedule. The rate of purchase was based on weekly consumption. Majority of the consumers were young or students (high school and college) and with a mean age of 22 years. Majority had two to five household members with an average of six members. Most of the consumers had low weekly income with an average of 7558.55. Consumers preference towards eatery was mainly due to taste and preferences. They also reported that quality and low price were their reasons for the choice of purchase in an eatery. The demand for eatery was influenced by the distance, age, present status of the consumers, weekly allowance, price of meal 1, price of meal 2, price of meal 4 and price of meal 5, but age, status, price of meal 1 and price of meal 2 had an inverse relationship to quantity demanded. On the other hand, the demand for eatery was not influenced by population, price of meal 3 and price of meal 4, but statistically, the said factors can explain their relationship to quantity demanded for eatery.
