Abstract: ARIZA, ARIAN E JOY J. AND LAAB, ANDRH EA M. Level of Knowledge on Anti-Violence against Women and their Children of Residents in Selected Barangays of lndang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino. A study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge on anti-violence against women and their children of residents in selected barangays of Indang, Cavite. The primary data used in the study were gathered through personal interviews with the barangay officials and residents of the selected barangays, namely: Bancod, Buna Lejos I, Kayquit I, Kayquit II, Kayquit III, Kaytambog, and Tambo Kulit from November 2015 to March 2016. Frequency count, mean, and percentage were used to analyze the data. Majority of the participants were female, married, high school graduates with mean age of 46 years old for residents and 51 years old for barangay officials. The residents earned an average monthly income of P11, 788 while the barangay officials received an average of P13, 291 monthly. The participants had heard about violence against women and their children and they conceptualized it as an abuse on women and their children. Majority of them were knowledgeable on physical violence on women and financial problem as the root cause of abuses on women. The residents had an average level of knowledge on the specific forms of violence against women and their children while the barangay officials had high level of knowledge. Majority of the participants had lower level of familiarity on offices where victims can seek assistance arid average level of knowledge on the available resources in the barangav office related to violence against women and their children. The barangav's had a VAW desk and an officer but some VAW desk officers lacked trainings and seminars to address violence against women and their children in the barangays effectively. Only two barangays had a VAW office and most of the time the facilities in the barangay hall were also used in handling VAW cases. The residents' major sources of information on VAWC were news and documentaries in television while the barangay officials had seminar as their major source of information. Residents prefer flyers to know more about VAW while barangay officials cited attendance to seminars to enhance their knowledge on VAW for effective implementation. In 2008 and 2009, rape had the most number of reported cases on VAW in the Municipal Police Station of Indang, while child abuse topped the list of reported cases in 2011; act of lasciviousness in 2013; and VAWC in 2014 to 2015.
