AUSTRIA, KRISTINE A., Applied Research IV (Agri-Science Curriculum). Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. "Effects of Different Levels of Azolla as Organic Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Asparagus". Adviser: Mrs. Elma A. Alcantara
The study “Effects of Different Levels of Azolla as Organic Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Asparagus" was conducted to determine the effects of different levels of azolla to the growth and yield of asparagus, and which level of azolla is best suited for the growth and yield of asparagus and to find an alternative fertilizer that can help increase the yield of asparagus.
A total of ninety seedlings were used in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications, composed of treatments - Tg (control), Ty (20 grams of dried azolla), Tg (49 grams of dried azolla), Tg ( 68 Srams of dried azolla), and Tg (86 grams of dried azolla).
The results revealed that the different levels used as organic fertilizer has an effect on the azolla growth and yield of asparagus. Best results were obtained from Tg (control) as far as the diameter and weight of spears are concerned. However, for the length of spears, Tyg gave the best result. results also showed that as the level of azolla increases, growth and yield of asparagus also increases. These findings also showed that dried azolla can be used as an alternative fertilizer for asparagus.
