The study generally aimed to enable the students to apply gained knowledge and skills in Business Management to practical and useful experiences. Specifically, the study aimed to describe the organization, management and operation of the Bank, identify the problems encountered by the Bank and suggest possible solutions to the problem. Data were collected through actual participation and observation of the bank's activities and through interview with employees and personnel of the bank. The information collected were the historical background of the bank, management, services offered and other related topics. Financial information was obtained from the office files. The study focused mainly on Bank of Commerce specifically on Trust Services Group Business Development/Marketing Department. The operation dealt mainly with the marketing of the Bank's products including the Trust's products and, service during the three-months field' study period. However, most of the Bank's financial statements or data were held confidential. The trainee works for three months in the Trust Services Group. This group is also considered as a key contributor to the bank's growth. Its is responsible for the trust and fiduciary arrangement /business relationship of the bank, an arrangement whereby a person or an person or an Institution Trustee is appointed by a second party Trust or to administer, hold and manage funds and/or properties for the benefit of another beneficiary. Trust Services Group is divided into three departments to effectively handle different fiduciary functions such as Business Development Department, Accounts Portfolio Management Department and Operations Department. The management policies and practices of Bank of Commerce are as follows: recruitment, pre-employment requirement, working hours, uniform allowance, administrative offense and suspension of work. The motivation and incentives provided by the Bank of Commerce to its employees are as follows: Fringe benefits which include vacation leave, emergency leave, special leave privileges and maternity leave. Provident fund, which includes payroll of employees, overtime and premium pay, holiday pay, bonus, car privileges plan, and trust fund. Training and development of the employees in also included in the motivation and incentives of the bank. The Bank of Commerce offers the following products: The Value Intensive Products includes Value Savings, Value Plus Savings, Value Plus Checking, Value Five, Value First, Porsave, Value Check and Save, Value Time, Money Market Savings, Foreign Currenev"-Savings and Foreign Currency-Time Deposits. Retail Banking - Products, which includes, Great Value Housing Loan, Company Guarantee Salary Loan Program and Visa Credit Card. Business Enhancement Tools, which includes Automated Payroll Facility, Collection System for Clients and Value Check- Service. Treasury Products which includes Asset Participation, Treasury Bills, and Fixed-Rate T-Notes (FXTNs)/T-Bonds. Trust Services Products, which includes Common Trust Fund, Dollar Fund, Life Insurance Trust, Estate Trust and Planning, Mortgage Trust Indenture, Employees Retirement Plan, Escrow Agency, Investment Management Account and Directed Investment Account. Together with the Bank's acquisition of the asset of Panasia Bank, the bank now has a total of 112 branches. Tele-marketing is the most common tool in promoting the product and services of the company. The Bank of Commerce together with the Trust Services Group uses this kind of strategy in order to encourage more clients.
