Abstract: MERCADO, MA.CIELO M. and SALE, MELANIE M. Design and Development of a Harmonic Distortion Meter. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2005. Adviser: Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda. The Design and Development of a Harmonic Distortion Meter was done at Brgy. Bancod, Indang, Cavite. The design project's objective was to design and develop a harmonic distortion meter. The project was composed of a Twin-T RC Notch Filter, a type that provides a high degree of attenuation at a narrow range of frequency. This filter circuit suppresses the fundamental frequency yet allows all the others to pass through for feeding to a succeeding amplifying stage for amplification. It has a seven - segment LED display that shows the harmonic distortion in its percentage form. The design project was presented to the proponents' adviser and technical critic during the testing and preliminary evaluation conducted at the DCEE laboratory on April 18 - 19, 2005. The final evaluation of the design project took place at the DCEE laboratory on April 25 - 27, 2005. The whole system underwent a series of testing and evaluation through actual demonstration and continuous monitoring of the data display to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. The HID-meter is applicable only in getting the harmonic distortion of class A, class B and class AB amplifiers.
