Abstract: The study entitled, "Growth and Yield Performance of soybeans as Affected by the Time of Weeding", was conducted in Calumpang Lejos, Indang, Cavite from June 1, 1981 to September 14, 1981. Its purpose was to determine the effect of weeds and the time of weeding on the growth and yield of soybeans. A 200 square meter field was used in this study. The land was thoroughly prepared by plowing and harrowing twice until it was ready for drilling of the seeds. The field was laid out in a randomized complete block designe The different treatments used in this study were Treatment 1 (weeding 3 weeks after sowing), Treatment 2 (weeding 5 weeks after sowing), Treatment 3 (weeding 7 weeks after sowing), Treatment 4 (weeding 9 weeks after sowing) and Treatment 5 (control = no weeding). The result of the study showed that Treatment 1, weeded three weeks after sowing, gave the highest production Of seeds compared with other treatments. Treatment 1 (3 weeks after sowing) produced an average mean weight of 50.77 grams. Treatment 2 (5 weeks after sowing) produced a mean weight of 47,98 grams. Treatment 3 (7 weeks after sowing) and Treatment 4 (9 weeks after sowing) produced mean weights of 42.59 and 41.62 grams, respectively. Treatment 5 (no weeding) gave the lowest mean weight of 26.1 grams. It should be implied, therefore, that the best time of weeding soybeans is on the third week of its growing period for this operation gave the highest produce of the crop.
