This study was conducted to determine the relationship between self- concept and examination result from four subject areas of first year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University. Specifically, it aimed to (1) determine the demographic profile of the first year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University in terms of age, gender, and monthly family income; (2) determine the self- concept of the first year BS Psychology students in terms of self- criticism, goal directedness, family relations, identity, self- worth, emotionality, accepting attitude, peer relations, self- feeling and self- confidence; (3) determine the examination results of the first year BS Psychology students from the four subject areas ( English, Filipino, Math and General Science); (4) determine the relationship of self- concept on the examination results of the first year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University. The study was conducted from October 2006 to January 2007, which focused mainly on the self- concept and examination results from four subject areas of first year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. The study used the descriptive method. The respondents of the study were composed of (102) freshman Psychology students of Cavite State University at Indang, Cavite. The instruments used by the researcher were the modified version of Pasao's scrum. Self- Concept Rating Scale to determine the level of the respondents' self- concept level, and an examination that covered the four subject areas, which was used to determine examination results. In analyzing the data, the researcher used statistical tools such as frequency tallies, percentage, and spearman rank. Using Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient, students' self- concept and examination result were found to have a significant relationship in Science subject. The self- concept of the respondents was found to have no significant relation to the exam results of the respondents in three subject areas (English, Filipino and Math). The result revealed that self- concept and examination result in science subject are significantly related. Factors of self- concept such as emotionality, goal directedness, family relations and -identity have significant effects on the exam result of the respondents in Science subject. Final result revealed that there is a significant relationship between self- concept and examination result of first year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University. Hence, the null hypothesis of no significant relationship between self- concept and examination result of the respondents was rejected.
