Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University, April 2006.Adviser: Ms. Shirley P. Suarez. The study entitled, Personality Type And Academic Performance Of Selected Freshmen High School Students At Trece Martirez City National High School SY 2005 — 2006, was conducted on November 2005 to December 2005 at Trece Martirez City National High School. The main goal of this study was to answer the main problem: Does personality type has a significant relationship to academic performance of freshmen high school students. To answer the foregoing problem, the following specific objectives were deduced: (1) determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of gender and age, (2) determine the personality type of the respondents, (3) determine the level of their academic performance, (4) determine the significant relationship demographic profile and personality type of the respondents, and (5) determine the significant relationship between demographic profile and academic performance of the freshman high school students. This study employed the Point Biserial Coefficient, Pearson Product moment and Chi-square Test Statistics. The respondents were chosen through simple random techniques, specifically fishbowl technique. A validated Personality Type Test was administered to determine the personality type of the respondents if they are introverts, extrovert or ambivert. The academic performance of the respondents was classified as: outstanding, very satisfactory, satisfactory, moderate satisfactory and needs improvement. With the use of statistical method, it was concluded that gender has a significant relationship to academic performance of the respondents. It was also concluded that personality type has a significant relationship to the academic performance of selected freshmen high school students at Trece Martirez City National High School.
